Top 10 Stockpiling Tips

Here are some basics about stockpiling. Some of you may be totally new to this and wondering, "How do I do this?". Hopefully, some of these tips can help you out.

1. Organize each trip BEFORE you leave the house.
2. Find a coupon organization method that works for you because you are going to be using  a lot of coupons.
3. Rotate your stockpile so items don't expire.
4. Be patient. A stockpile won't happen overnight.
5. Check out future ads to make sure a better deal is not coming up next week.
6. Check expiration dates before you buy a product.
7. Don't stockpile items that you know your family won't use. It is a waste of space - even if it's free! Unless you really do plan on donating it.
8. Have friends and family save their coupons for you, if possible.
9. Don't let coupons or your stockpile take over your whole house.
10. Make sure you keep your stockpile in a place that is free from extreme heat, cold, rodents and bugs.

Now, it is up to you if you really want to hardcore stockpile or just keep it simple. I am more of the keep it simple type. I don't want a five years supply of pantiliners. If you do, then you will just have to use more coupons than I do. There's a lot of ways to gather coupons. I highly suggest a newspaper subscription. You can also go out on Sunday morning and buy newspapers from a local store, buy coupons from Ebay or coupon clipping services (there are quite a few out there), get some from friends and family or dumpster dive (I don't suggest it since it is illegal in many areas). I prefer a newspaper subscription and buying the coupons I like from coupon clippers. They are fairly cheap to buy, usually running about $0.10 each. So, maybe $1 for ten coupons. If you get ten products for next to nothing, that $1 is well worth it.

Happy stockpiling!
